KARE power station, Munich

The former gas test power station in Munich was converted into an international flagship store for KARE Design in 2013-2017. In the process, it was important for the new users to preserve the industrial character of the building. This applied in particular to the visible old steel construction extending from the 5th to the 10th floor. This, as well as the 11th floor added in 2016, has been protected with an insulation-forming fire protection coating from Hensel.

Since it was not clear at the beginning of the construction work which fire protection class the steel construction had to fulfil in the different areas of the building, it was decided to use the water-based fire protection coating HENSOTHERM® 420 KS. This meant that the coating work could already be started on R 30 and the areas that required a higher fire resistance duration could be subsequently coated to R 90 without any problems.
